The Alaska Oil Spill Curriculum

The Alaska Oil Spill Curriculum was put together by a group of concerned educators following the Exxon Valdez oil spill of March 24, 1989.

The curriculum is loaded with "hands-on" activities for all grade levels. The intent is to increase awareness of what surrounds us and to teach decision making skills to the students.

The Alaska Oil Spill Curriculum is currently maintained by the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council and is available for grades K-3 (pdf/2.4MB), grades 4-6 (pdf/9.7MB), and grades 7-12 (pdf/11.2MB).

Lingering Oil Education Project

In March 17, 2006 a group of High School students examined lingering oil in Herring Bay, Prince William Sound and shared the continuing impact this has on the region.
