Ocean Science and Leadership Expedition
August 5-14 (Grades 9-12)
OSLE is a ten-day intensive field course for high school students that includes a four-day sea kayaking expedition in Prince William Sound. You will work with local marine scientists and educators to learn about oceanographic principles and coastal and marine ecosystems through hands-on science activities. During a sea kayaking expedition near Columbia Glacier, you’ll learn about the effects of climate change on marine systems, and see firsthand the effects of marine pollution while participating in a marine debris survey and beach cleanup. This challenging and adventurous course will develop your leadership and teamwork skills through wilderness experiences and active involvement in a small-group learning and living environment. You can earn college credit through the University of Alaska, Prince William Sound Community College. Limited to 10 participants. Fee $1100+ $25 for 1 credit
